I think too many people seek out stuff that actually doesn’t matter that much. And that seeking stops them from playing a bigger game.

Just this morning I found myself spending half an hour looking for the perfect photo for one slide in a presentation I was seeking perfection. Then I reminded myself that this was a case where ‘good enough’ will actually be fine. Move on.

Here are some things I see people commonly seek:

  • Permission
  • Direction
  • Certainty
  • Clarity
  • Perfection
  • Power
  • The answer
  • The right time

Which ones apply to you?

Don’t let the lack of these things stop you,. Don’t let them get in the way from moving you from where you are to where you want to be. They don’t really matter that much. You can still take action in their absence.

What does matter is seeking out the stuff that gives you shivers. The stuff that gets your blood moving. The inner conviction that gives you a reason to get out of bed. In fact, you don’t really even need to seek it. You just need to listen for it. And when you hear it, act on it.

Just get on with it. Be mindful. But get on with it regardless.
